Finding Joy in the Journey: The Heart Shaped Box
Finding Joy in the Journey: The Heart Shaped Box: When I was a little girl, my dad would always get a small heart shaped box of candy for me when he also gave one to my mom. He'd even give ...

Winter Reflections
Last week we lost our power for three days after a snow storm that piled up as high as a foot of snow in five hours. This is a picture of my backyard that next morning.
I watched out the window as my husband shoveled snow away from our mailbox, thankful for him doing it and asking God to give him strength to be able to do it.
I couldn't help but notice the large blue spruce in our front yard that was once a gift from my mother for a Christmas tree (2000). Its rather large now, but the branches which normally rose to the sky now looked like a folded up umbrella with its branches on the ground.
I thought about how much I'm like that tree. Sometimes I get tired and run down from the busyness of life and when I'm ill. I feel like I'm going to fall with the weight of it all.
The next morning I saw the same tree, but now with its branches free of snow and lifted to the sky once more. Wow, did that really touch my heart as I realized how much like me, after I let go of all the baggage and pray for the Lord to refresh me and then I lift my hands heavenward with thanksgiving once more.

A promise to Little Man
I'm not usually one for keeping the twelve days of Christmas, but this year is a little different. For our Christmas celebration, Little Man along with his little sister and mother were to stay the night, but when his little sister got sick, his mommy decided to take them home.
Little man sat looking up to our large Nutcrackers on top of our bookshelves and said, "Granny will you please keep up those Nutcrackers for me to see one more time?" he said with the most pitiful face.
"Yes, granny and papa will keep them up for one more visit so you can see them again," I easily said, then I began to wonder how long that might be???
Thankfully I have an artificial tree, so we've kept the lights burning waiting for Little Man's return. They are coming for dinner this week and we will have one last Christmas celebration and I'm actually looking forward to it! ;)

Notebooks & more notebooks!
I have a notebook in every room of my house; seriously, I do! Lol! I think its important to have one handy when a name comes into my mind for an elf city, or a scene pops into my head where my characters are having a conversation.
I often get dream scenes in my sleep of my characters facing great challenges, fight scenes or even finding romance. I quickly take out my nearby notebook & jot it down before I forget it; sometimes even 3:00-4:00AM!
If you're a writer, then you know what it's like; if you're not, then you probably think I'm crazy! Lol! Oh well, it works for me!
I hope everyone is having a great start to a New Year with many possibilities! ;)

KING TITAN
I saw this in a shop last year and loved it. It's a statue of what I think looks a lot like my King Titan. Within my story (Legend of the mer II ~ THE NEW GUARDIAN), I have included two poems. I'm sharing this one with you:
KING TITAN
His beard and brows are snowy-white
As well as his long hair
His chest is broad and his tail is strong
Sending salty sprays into the air
His eyes are silver and dark grey
None can look upon him and not fear
He causes his enemies to tremble
Whenever he swims near
He travels deep into grottos and caves
And rules his Kingdom well
His mer people praise him for the good he does
And in their legends they tell
Of Titan their mighty and sovereign King
That is wise and ancient of days
He rules with love, kindness and mercy
And teaches them all of his ways

New Target Date For Publication ~ Legend of the Mer II
As many of you know, one of my favorite sayings is if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.
This month has started out with a bang, one being the birth of my little granddaughter. Anyone who knows me knows that my grands are the icing on the cake!
Therefore a new target date for my sequel: December 1, 2012.
I've had a lot of fun these past two years writing this story. Some of you may know my first book was written mostly of a way to share my heart with my grandchildren. I had cancer and wasn't sure I'd be around.
After becoming cancer free I decided to write the sequel just for fun!
This time I'm not only continuing the story of Princess Lana and Prince Titus, but also telling the story of Jedediah Prentis (Lana's half brother). He's inherited some of the unique abilities of the mer and he's also wrestling with the responsibility he's inherited.
I hope you'll check it out! ;)
