If They Only Knew

Dreaming is easy; it's the writing that seems to take hours to convey what you have seen.  If your readers only knew all that was put into creating this work of art.

If you're feeling like your in the dungeon of creation, you're not alone!  Lol!  It's in these times that you are creating your Masterpiece!  Writing is another form of art and we can all make something beautiful if we keep on writing!

Sometimes I feel like a surgeon, cutting away all that is not necessary.  I will rewrite a sentence five different ways before I can believe what my character is saying.

Writing takes time, patience and practice.  In the end, it will all be worth it if we can make someone smile!  ;)

  1. Totally agree... writing takes so much time... why I hate it when people ask me if I'm still writing...

  2. Yes, writing takes so much time if you want to do it well. It's always nice to meet a blogger who believes in the craft of writing. I'm your newest follower from Consider the Lilies Poetry at http://considertheliliespoetry.blogspot.com

  3. This is something I have become incredibly aware of and try to convey to my students who just want to vomit words on a page for a grade. Just found your blog - looking forward to what you have to share.

  5. @tfwalsh my husband will call me on his way home from work and ask me if I talked to anyone today and then he says, "Anyone real?" Lol! ;)

@Christina I'm a *Late Bloomer* when it comes to writing/publishing. I just keep looking for that next bit of advice that I can grab onto to make it better. Thanks for the follow! ;)

@Tasha God bless you for being a Teacher! It was my junior high and high school creative writing teachers that got me interested in the creation of putting to paper what I saw in my head.

@trishafaye I think we writers get so beat-up from rejection slips that we stop writing all together. Even a painter paints for the enjoyment of his creation, even if his painting is not hanging in a museum. Some people will like our writing and most certainly some people will not. I guess I've gotten to an age where I'm writing for my own enjoyment and anyone else who cares to come along for the journey. I'm still growing and learning and trying to write better, but I might not always agree with cloning my story to look like every other out there. ;)

  6. So funny that I should come across THIS blog post today - you've met me where I'm at, LOL.
In an effort to break through a bout of writer's block, a few minutes ago I actually wrote, "Frustration is a blank page and a blinking cursor..."
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting! Be blessed :)
