Beauty is sometimes born of pain

After discovering I had cancer, I was given six weeks of radiation and also 3 internal high-dose radiation treatments.  They told me I would most likely feel the effects of the radiation for three to five years.

I wasn't one of the lucky ones; I'm into my fourth year and still feeling the effects as well as having nerve damage. The pain is helped with medications and I'm now cancer free.

Did I share this so I'd get a pity party; no, but to say my God is bigger.  God says He'll give us beauty for ashes and I clung to those words during the worst of days and prayed continually.

God didn't take my pain away, but He did give me moments of retreat in amazing places with wonderful adventures.  He gave me Telendaria, Torbist and the many characters within my stories.

Each time I wrote or read them it was as if I was able to set the pain aside awhile and experience something beautiful, something almost Heavenly.

Whatever you might be going through, just know you can find beauty beyond the pain and know God is bigger.  ;)

  1. I'm so sorry you've had to go through this, Sheri. What an awful disease. Amazing grace!

    1. Thank you Dora, but God has been bigger in so many ways. I now try to live the most of one day at a time. ;)
