The Heart Shaped Box

When I was a little girl, my dad would always get a small heart shaped box of candy for me when he also gave one to my mom.  He'd even give her flowers, but make sure to take out one for me.  Its amazing how one thoughtful gift could mean so much.

When my girls were little and up until they had a sweetheart of their own, my husband also gave each of them a small heart shaped box of candy for valentines, carrying on the tradition that my father started so long ago.

May my daughters carry it on to their daughters and they in turn to theirs.  Our fathers are the first to show us love and what that looks like.  No wonder so many women grow up to marry a man just like their dad.

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day and know that you are loved!  ; )

  2. Thank you Pam, yes it is something that I love to remember each Valentines. The pic is actually of my fireplace mantle with a box that my husband gave me one day. The one my dad gave me often had a little plastic doll on the front. Her dress was spread out and she had eyes that opened and closed. Wish I still had one of them. ; )

  3. So beautiful Sheri! My dad used to send his four daughters flowers every Valentine's Day from "Our Secret Admirer." Later, he sent them to his wife (my stepmother), all his daughters including stepdaughters, and all our daughters (all eleven of them!) That's 18 of us all together. What a blessing! How I miss my beloved Dad. However, I was delighted when my husband decided this year to send his four daughters a Valentine from their "Secret Admirer." Happy Valentine's Day!

  4. What a sweet story about your dad. My husband stopped when each girl got engaged and found their own Sweetheart. That is amazing that your dad continued for all of you. You were truly blessed. I was truly blessed. Thankful for such loving fathers. ;)
